Description: Environmental protesters could be jailed for up to a year if they lock themselves to gates, glue themselves to roads or block oil depots, under plans in the Queen’s Speech today. A new public order bill includes three new criminal offences intended to stop groups such as Extinction Rebellion, Insulate Britain and Just Stop Oil from causing serious disruption. It will ban protesters from chaining, gluing or using other measures to attach themselves to buildings, objects or one another. It will also enable police to stop and search protesters without any grounds for suspicion. Policing Minister Kit Malthouse: "We believe in the right to protest but it has to be balanced against the rest of us having the rights to go about our business." #talktv #talkradio #borisjohnson #climatechange #climate #extinctionrebellion #insulatebritain
